Jacob Song is Senior Director, Legal Affairs at Avanci. Jacob joined Avanci in 2020 and advises on critical legal issues related to global standard-essential patent licensing. Jacob is also part of the team responsible for Avanci’s government affairs, policy, and advocacy efforts.

Before joining Avanci, he spent over 10 years in private practice, most recently as a partner at a national law firm focusing on IP and commercial litigation and post-grant proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Notable representation includes serving as trial counsel in a patent dispute, which resulted in a complete defense verdict upheld by the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. His practice also included patent prosecution and trademark prosecution and portfolio management.

Jacob earned his B.S. in Microbiology from UCLA and his J.D. from Loyola Law School. He is admitted to state bars of California and Texas, and he is also a registered patent attorney at the USPTO. Jacob is based in Dallas, Texas, USA.
