Head of Life Sciences and Health at European Investment Bank (EIB)

Dana is a health economist with more than 25 years of experience in life sciences and health investments, health financing and funding, analysis, design and implementation of health systems reforms programs, public private partnerships in health, as well as implementation of large public health programs in priority areas of intervention. Dana holds a Medical Doctor Degree, a Master’s degree in Social and Health Services Management, a Master’s degree in Political Sciences and a postgraduate degree in Health Economics.

Since 2022, Dana is the Head of the Life Sciences and Health (LSH) division at the European Investment Bank Projects Directorate (Innovation and Competitiveness Department), coordinating the evaluation of all Life Sciences and Health projects financed by the Bank, supporting the set up and implementation of relevant institutional partnerships and supervising the innovation trends review, market and policy analysis performed the team.

Before that, Dana worked for 9 years as a senior health economist in the same team, responsible for a significant number of both inside and outside EU health investments’ preparation, due diligence and monitoring, with a focus on economic evaluation, sustainability and technical assistance. Dana also contributed to the development of new financial instruments, programs and partnerships for the health investments supported by the Bank.

Before joining the Bank, she worked for more than 15 years with several international organizations such as the World Bank, USAID, IFC, Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency and WHO. Other professional experiences include coordination of several health sector reform projects in countries like Romania, Moldova and Turkey and teaching in the postgraduate Health management and Health economics programs at the Romanian National School of Public Health. She was until 2022 the President of the Patients’ Classification Systems professional organization (PCSI).
