As a seasoned pharmaceutical R&D executive with >25 years of hands-on and leadership experience gained in both multinational companies (Roche, MSD and Amgen) and entrepreneurial biotechs (Shire and Biotica), Dr Zhang has led the successful discovery and development of several important new medicines. Before joining Haixi Pharmaceuticals, Dr Zhang had worked as VP R&D and Head of Asia R&D Center in Amgen where he had led the successful China clinical development of several important products (evolocumab, blinatumomab and denozumab). He was the discovery leader and an inventor of sugammadex (Bridion, MSD) which generated peak annual sale of $2B and has changed anaesthetic practice worldwide. Dr Zhang has been awarded the Malcolm Campbell Memorial Prize by RSC in 2007 and the Hero-of-Chemistry Award by ACS in 2023.
