Tero-Pekka Alastalo is the Founder and CEO of Avenue Biosciences, a biotechnology company building a high-throughput protein engineering platform to improve protein secretion, yield, and quality in mammalian expression systems. Combining a medical and scientific research background with deep expertise at the intersection of synthetic biology, high-throughput experimentation, and AI/ML, Tero-Pekka and his team have led Avenue from its scientific foundations in ER biogenesis and secretory pathway engineering to a commercial platform serving biologics developers across recombinant proteins, biosimilars, mRNA therapeutics, and cell and gene therapy.Tero-Pekka brings over a decade of experience founding and leading life sciences and digital health ventures. He was a co-founder of Blueprint Genetics, a genetic diagnostics company, and held leadership roles at CardioSignal, a digital biomarker company. His academic career includes serving as a Principal Investigator at the University of Helsinki and completing postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford University. He earned his MD and PhD from the University of Turku, Finland.
