Thomas Schmid heads the GMP Biopharmaceuticals Unit at the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology IZI in Leipzig. His work focuses on translating biopharmaceutical innovations into GMP-compliant manufacturing processes, covering process development, optimisation, scale-up, cell-bank production and manufacturing of investigational products for preclinical and clinical use. His team helps bridge early-stage research with clinical manufacturing.
