Seng-Lai (Thomas) Tan is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Romulus Therapeutics, a biotechnology company developing next-generation precision immunology therapies for autoimmune, allergic, and inflammatory diseases.

Thomas is a biotechnology executive and drug discovery leader with more than 26 years of experience spanning small molecules, antibody therapeutics, multispecific antibodies, and peptide therapeutics. He has held scientific and executive leadership positions at Eli Lilly, Amgen, Roche, and EMD Serono, leading global cross-functional teams and strategic collaborations across oncology, immunology, and infectious diseases.

Throughout his career, Thomas has built discovery organizations and platform capabilities and has led discovery, translational, and portfolio strategy at biotechnology companies including FORMA Therapeutics and Marengo Therapeutics. He previously served as Chief Scientific Officer at Bicara Therapeutics, Immunitas Therapeutics, and TFC Therapeutics, where he helped advance innovative oncology and immunology programs into clinical development.

Thomas received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed a Mini-MBA in Biopharmaceutical Innovation through the Rutgers Center for Management Development. He is an inventor or author on more than 70 patents, scientific publications, and editorials, and previously held an adjunct faculty appointment in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
