Stephen Bucci is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and a leading expert incorporate investigations, forensic accounting, white-collar defense matters andcomplex accounting issues. He has more than 25 years of experience providingactionable insights to corporate clients, counsel and regulators.Mr. Bucci is relied upon by his clients to consistently deliver strategic guidance andpractical solutions to help them understand and navigate complex financial andregulatory challenges. He is recognized for his ability to lead teams effectively whilebalancing senior-level oversight with hands-on execution. Throughout his career, hehas worked closely with outside counsel, general counsel, boards, and regulatory andenforcement agencies, including the SEC, DOJ/FBI, PCAOB, DHS, CFTC, OntarioSecurities Commission and the Securities and Exchange Board of India.Mr. Bucci has led engagements across a wide range of industries, includinghealthcare, technology, software, financial services, manufacturing andentertainment, often involving global investigations and high-stakes corporate andwhite-collar defense matters. His technical accounting expertise encompassesrevenue recognition, business combinations, accounting for contingencies andreserves, software development, accounting changes and error corrections and SECreporting.Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Bucci served as Senior Enforcement Accountant atthe Securities and Exchange Commission. During his SEC tenure, Mr. Bucci heldprimary responsibility for the forensic accounting investigations related to dozens ofalleged frauds. Several of his high impact cases were highlighted in press releasesand litigation releases. At the SEC he worked with Staff Attorneys, Trial Counsel,Assistant Directors and Associate Directors to investigate and litigate GAAPviolations, disclosure violations, fraudulent misstatements and misrepresentations,asset misappropriations and offering frauds (Ponzi-like schemes). Mr. Bucci also saton a Commission-wide working group to improve and advise on internal accountingprocesses and tools.Prior to his government service he held successively senior roles at BerkeleyResearch Group and Navigant Consulting, where he conducted high-profile forensicaccounting investigations, fraud investigations, financial disclosure matters, litigationsupport and served as an expert witness.Mr. Bucci holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administrationfrom Washington & Lee University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensedin Virginia and California and holds professional certifications of Certified FraudExaminer (CFE) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF).
