Ms. Xu has 31 years of venture capital experience in China. She founded Capital Today in 2005 as one of China's first independent venture capital firms; it currently manages approximately US$5 billion.

Capital Today's vision is to "Build Business for China." The firm follows a concentrated, long-term approach built on two beliefs — the power of branding and the power of compounding — and works hands-on with founders to build teams, brands, and long-term strategy. Ms. Xu was the first or early institutional investor in JD.com, NetEase, Meituan-Dianping, BOSS Zhipin, Moonshot AI, and Zhipu AI.

Ms. Xu has been named to Forbes' global Midas List of top venture capitalists and, on multiple occasions, to Forbes China's list of leading venture capitalists.

Prior to founding Capital Today, Ms. Xu was Partner and Head of China at Baring Private Equity Partners Asia, and before that an investment manager at Peregrine Direct Investments. She is an honorary trustee of Nanjing University.
