Michael Blakey is Managing Partner and co-founder of Cocoon Capital Management, a Singapore-based venture capital firm focused on early-stage enterprise software and deep tech companies across Southeast Asia. Over 25 years as an early-stage investor, he has built a reputation for hands-on partnership with founders, combining strategic capital with operational insight. This philosophy has helped build breakout companies including Augmentus, TransTrack, Aprisium, Qashier, and Bioactivx.

Prior to Cocoon, Michael co-founded Avonmore Developments in the UK in 2000, an investment firm that backed over 40 early-stage companies and delivered over 15 successful exits. In 2013, recognising the growing potential of Southeast Asia, he relocated to Singapore and launched Cub Capital, investing in a dozen regional startups including The Luxe Nomad, Quincus, and Cricket One.

In recognition of his contributions to the startup ecosystem, Michael was named UK Angel Investor of the Year in 2015.

Beyond capital, Michael brings hands-on experience to founders across fundraising, hiring, and the challenges of scaling globally. He is also a passionate advocate for mental health in entrepreneurship and regularly shares his perspective on venture capital through speaking engagements and on LinkedIn.
